Mítilfrumubólga, also known as mitochondrial disease, is a general term for inherited disorders that disrupt the function of mitochondria. Mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cell, responsible for generating most of the cell's supply of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), used as a source of chemical energy.
