Ländryggskotorna refer to the lumbar vertebrae, the five bones that make up the lower part of the spine. Located in the lumbar region of the back, they are situated below the thoracic vertebrae and above the sacrum. These vertebrae are the largest and strongest in the vertebral column, designed to bear significant weight and withstand the stresses of movement and posture.

Each lumbar vertebra, numbered L1 through L5 from top to bottom, shares a similar anatomical structure.
