Lymphoidset is a term that refers to a collection or group of lymphoid cells. Lymphoid cells, also known as lymphocytes, are a type of white blood cell that play a crucial role in the immune system. They are responsible for recognizing and eliminating foreign invaders such as bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens, as well as abnormal cells like cancer cells.

Lymphoid cells originate in the bone marrow from hematopoietic stem cells. They then mature in primary lymphoid organs, which include the bone marrow and the thymus. After maturation, they circulate in the blood and lymph, and reside in secondary lymphoid organs such as lymph nodes, the spleen, and Peyer's patches in the gut. A lymphoidset could therefore refer to the lymphocytes within any of these locations.

The composition and behavior of a lymphoidset can vary depending on its location and the specific immune response being mounted. For instance, a lymphoidset in a lymph node during an infection might be predominantly composed of activated T cells and B cells, whereas a lymphoidset in the spleen might contain a higher proportion of natural killer cells. Understanding the characteristics of different lymphoidsets is important in studying immune function and developing immunotherapies.
