Luchtportie (Dutch for "air portion") is a term used in discussions of ventilation and indoor air quality to denote the portion of supplied air allocated to a space, occupant, or process within a ventilation system. It is not part of formal international standards, but is used informally to reason about how air is distributed in buildings and how much air is available per person or per zone.

Etymology: from lucht, air, and portie, portion. The term emphasizes a share or fraction of the total air supply rather than a fixed quantity.

Concept and usage: In practice, luchtportie can refer to the amount of outdoor air delivered per occupant (per-capita ventilation) or to the portion of total supply air directed to a particular zone in a building. In a simple calculation, a room with volume V receiving total supply Q (in m3/h) and with n occupants would have a luchtportie per person of Q divided by n.

Relation to standards and units: Common ventilation metrics include air changes per hour (ACH) and ventilation rate per person (L/s per person). Luchtportie aligns with these ideas but remains informal; professionals usually express it using standard measures rather than the label luchtportie.
