Logopedbedömning, often translated as speech-language assessment or evaluation, is a systematic process conducted by a speech-language pathologist (logoped). The purpose is to identify and understand communication and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. This assessment typically involves gathering information about the client's history, observing their communication skills in various contexts, and administering standardized or non-standardized tests.

The evaluation aims to assess different areas of communication, including articulation (how sounds are produced), fluency (the flow of speech), voice (quality and characteristics of the voice), language (understanding and using spoken and written language), and pragmatics (social aspects of communication). Swallowing function, known as dysphagia, may also be assessed.

Based on the findings of the logopedbedömning, the speech-language pathologist can determine the presence and nature of any disorders, their severity, and their impact on the individual's daily life. This information forms the foundation for developing an individualized treatment plan, often referred to as logopedisk behandling (speech therapy). The assessment is a dynamic process that may be repeated over time to monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed.
