Liukoisuuskäyrä, known in English as a solubility curve, is a graphical representation of the relationship between the solubility of a substance and temperature. Typically, it illustrates how the maximum amount of a solute that can dissolve in a given amount of solvent changes as the temperature of the solvent is altered. For most solid solutes in liquid solvents, solubility increases with increasing temperature. This means that more of the solid can dissolve in a hotter solvent. Conversely, the solubility of gases in liquids generally decreases as temperature increases.

A solubility curve is plotted with temperature on the x-axis and solubility on the y-axis. Solubility is usually expressed in units of mass of solute per unit mass of solvent, such as grams of solute per 100 grams of solvent. Each point on the curve represents a saturated solution, where the solvent holds the maximum amount of solute possible at that specific temperature. Points below the curve represent unsaturated solutions, meaning they contain less solute than the maximum. Points above the curve indicate supersaturated solutions, which are unstable and can precipitate the excess solute if disturbed.

Solubility curves are important tools in chemistry for understanding and predicting the behavior of solutions, particularly in processes like crystallization, purification, and chemical synthesis.
