Similarly, in ring theory, an isomorphism between two rings R and S is a bijective function f: R → S that preserves both the addition and multiplication operations. That is, for all elements a and b in R, f(a + b) = f(a) + f(b) and f(a * b) = f(a) * f(b).

In linear algebra, an isomorphism between two vector spaces V and W is a bijective linear transformation T: V → W that preserves the vector space structure. This means that for all vectors u and v in V and all scalars c, T(cu + v) = cT(u) + T(v).
