Lisäruiskutusjärjestelmä, often translated as secondary injection system or supplemental injection system, is a component in internal combustion engines, particularly in diesel engines, that plays a role in emission control and performance enhancement. Its primary function is to inject additional fuel into the exhaust system, typically after the main combustion event. This injected fuel then reacts with residual oxygen in the exhaust gases, contributing to the regeneration of particulate filters and the reduction of certain pollutants.

The system usually consists of an injector, a fuel pump, and control electronics. The injector is strategically placed in the exhaust manifold or upstream of the diesel particulate filter (DPF). The control unit monitors various engine parameters, such as exhaust gas temperature and pressure, to determine when and how much fuel to inject. This precise control is crucial for efficient operation and to avoid detrimental effects on the exhaust aftertreatment system.
