Lipidszteroid is a proposed term for a class of biomolecules that combine structural elements of lipids and steroids. The label is not universally used in chemical literature, and definitions vary. Broadly defined, lipidszteroids encompass compounds in which a steroid nucleus is modified by attachment of lipid-like components, such as long hydrocarbon chains or fatty acyl groups, yielding molecules with both steric rigidity and hydrophobic character.
