linguistiikkaan

Linguistiikkaan is the illative (movement into) form of the Finnish noun linguistiikka, which means linguistics or the science of language. In Finnish, illative forms express direction toward a place, field, or domain, so linguistiikkaan is used to say “into linguistics” or “to the field of linguistics” in sentences such as “hän siirtyi linguistiikkaan” or “opiskelee linguistiikkaan.” The term is not a separate concept; it is a grammatical form indicating movement or involvement in linguistics.

Linguistics is the scientific study of language: its structure, use, acquisition, and evolution. It seeks to describe languages and to explain how they are organized, how they change over time, and how speakers use them in communication.
