Lidar, an acronym for Light Detection and Ranging, uses pulsed laser light to measure distances to the Earth's surface or other objects. Altimetric lidar focuses on determining the vertical position of these measurements, providing crucial data for topographic mapping, elevation models, and a variety of geospatial applications.
