Adults measure 18–28 cm in length, with a slender body, long tail, and iridescent scales that shift tones in different light. A distinctive triple dorsal crest runs along the back, and the eyes are large with vertical pupils. The overall appearance is designed to suggest agility and camouflage.

Ledddyr are native to forested regions of a fictional southern archipelago. They inhabit leaf litter and mid-canopy zones, using coloration and patterning to blend with dappled light. They are primarily nocturnal in cooler climates and crepuscular in warmer habitats, adapting activity to food availability and predation pressure.

Their diet is omnivorous, consisting of small insects, fruit, nectar, and occasionally small vertebrate eggs. They are agile climbers with adhesive toe pads and a quick, sidestepping gait, which helps them navigate complex three-dimensional environments.

Reproduction is ovoviviparous; females typically bear two to six young after a gestation period of several weeks. Juveniles reach maturity within six to twelve months, depending on resource abundance.

In worldbuilding contexts, ledddyr features as a symbol of agility and keen camouflage. They appear in folklore, bestiaries, and various interactive media as elusive, forest-dwelling creatures or guardians of hidden knowledge.
