layersintima
Layersintima refers to the inner lining of blood vessels, collectively known as the tunica intima. It is the most luminal layer and is responsible for regulating the passage of substances between the bloodstream and the vessel wall. The core components of the intima typically include an endothelial cell monolayer that rests on a basal lamina, sometimes a subendothelial connective tissue layer, and, in many arteries, a distinct internal elastic lamina that separates the intima from the media.
In arteries, the endothelium forms the immediate barrier with a supporting basal lamina. The subendothelial layer
Functions of the intima include maintaining vascular tone, regulating hemostasis and immune interactions, and controlling permeability.
