lausekkein

Lausekkein is a Finnish linguistic form derived from lauseke, meaning expression or phrase. It is not a separately common everyday word, but rather a form that appears in discussions of Finnish grammar and in written references that describe inflection patterns for the noun lauseke.

In ordinary language, expressions are typically counted with the plural lausekkeet. Finnish nouns are marked for number and case, and the standard plural genitive is lausekkeiden, while the illative, essive, translative and other cases have their own endings (lausekkeisiin, lausekkeina, lausekkeiksi, etc.). The form lausekkein is encountered mainly as part of longer inflected forms such as lausekkeineen, meaning “with the expressions.” In such contexts, lauseke serves as the stem, and the surrounding endings convey number, case, and the comitative/associative sense.

Because Finnish morphology combines stems with multiple suffixes, lausekkein often functions as a stem in grammatical constructions rather than as a standalone word.
