latexexuding
Latexexuding is a term used to describe the release of latex from latex-producing tissues or from latex-containing materials. The term is not widely standardized and is primarily encountered in discussions of plant physiology, tapping practices, and polymer processing. In plant biology, latex exudation occurs when laticifers—specialized channels that store latex—are ruptured or subjected to pressure, causing milky latex to ooze at the wound site. This response serves as a defense against herbivory and disease and is influenced by species, age, tapping method, wound size, temperature, and moisture.
In industrial contexts, latexexuding may refer to the visible flow of latex from cut surfaces during harvesting
Health considerations arise because many individuals are allergic to latex proteins, and exposure to exuded latex
