laatuluokkaa

Laatuluokkaa is a concept in traffic law in Finland. It refers to the vehicle's intended use and category, which determines the type of driving license and vehicle restrictions that apply to it. Laatuluokkaa is used to categorize vehicles into different classes, such as motorcycles, cars, buses, and trucks, based on their characteristics, such as engine power, weight, and dimension.

The Finnish Transportation Code categorizes vehicles into five groups, A to E, based on their vehicle category code from the European Union. Each group has specific requirements and restrictions, such as the type of license required, the maximum amount of taxes, and the allowed vehicle configuration. For example, motorcyclists with a motor vehicle category A1-A3 license can drive motorcycles with a maximum power of 15 kW, while motorcyclists with a motor vehicle category A4 or A license can drive motorcycles with a maximum power of 33 kW.

Lääkärinkatu vehicles, which are vehicles designed to carry passengers in traffic, are categorized as group C or E, depending on the number of passengers they can carry. Heavy goods vehicles, on the other hand, are categorized as group E, with specific restrictions and requirements, such as a Goods Vehicle license. In addition, there are also some exceptions, like for example for agricultural vehicles or industrial trucks, which might require a category E driving license.

Traffic law restricts the use of certain types of vehicles based on their laatu class. However, the Finnish Traffic Code has also made some exceptions for certain vehicle types, such as tractors and other agricultural vehicles or industrial trucks.
