Lymph nodes are small, bean-shaped glands that are part of the lymphatic system, a network of vessels and nodes that help the body fight infection and disease. When lymph nodes become inflamed, it is usually a sign that the body is fighting off an infection or other illness.

The most common cause of lümfipõletik is a bacterial or viral infection. Infections in the throat, skin, or ears can lead to swollen and tender lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, or groin, respectively. Other causes can include certain autoimmune diseases, certain types of cancer, or reactions to medications.

Symptoms of lümfipõletik typically include swollen lymph nodes, which may feel tender or painful to the touch. The skin over the affected lymph nodes might appear red or warm. Other accompanying symptoms depend on the underlying cause and can include fever, sore throat, fatigue, or a general feeling of being unwell.

Diagnosis usually involves a physical examination to assess the size, tenderness, and location of the swollen lymph nodes. Medical history is also taken into account. Further tests, such as blood work, imaging scans, or a biopsy of the lymph node, may be ordered to determine the specific cause of the inflammation.

Treatment for lümfipõletik focuses on addressing the underlying cause. If the inflammation is due to a bacterial infection, antibiotics are prescribed. For viral infections, treatment is often supportive, focusing on rest and symptom relief. In cases related to autoimmune diseases or cancer, specific treatments for those conditions will be initiated.
