Kütusepritsimine, also known as fuel injection, is a fuel delivery system for internal combustion engines. It atomizes fuel and injects it directly into the engine's intake manifold or combustion chamber. This system replaced carburetors in most modern gasoline engines due to its superior efficiency and performance.

The core components of a kütusepritsimise system include a fuel pump, fuel injectors, an electronic control unit (ECU), and various sensors. The fuel pump delivers fuel from the tank to the injectors at a controlled pressure. Fuel injectors are electronically controlled valves that spray a fine mist of fuel into the intake air or directly into the cylinder. The ECU monitors data from sensors, such as engine speed, throttle position, and oxygen levels, to precisely determine the amount of fuel needed and the optimal injection timing.

There are several types of kütusepritsimise systems. Port fuel injection (PFI) injects fuel into the intake port just before the intake valve. Direct injection (DI) injects fuel directly into the combustion chamber. This system offers better fuel economy and increased power output by allowing for higher compression ratios and more precise fuel control.
