The compressor raises the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant gas. It then flows to the condenser, where it releases heat to the surroundings and turns into a liquid. The liquid refrigerant passes through the expansion valve, where its pressure and temperature drop significantly. Finally, it enters the evaporator, where it absorbs heat from the cooled space, turning back into a gas, and the cycle repeats.
