közalkalmazotti

Közalkalmazotti is an adjective referring to the public employment relationship in Hungary, known as közalkalmazotti jogviszony. It designates the status of individuals who perform public service tasks for state or local government bodies and for public institutions financed from the state budget. The scope includes a broad range of workers in public administration, education, healthcare, and other public services that operate under budgetary regulation, from administrative staff to professionals in schools and hospitals.

The közalkalmazotti jogviszony is governed by specific public employment regulations in addition to general labor law. Key features typically include a state- or sector-determined pay framework, structured career progression, and standardized procedures for recruitment, promotion, leave, and termination. Employees enjoy statutory protections such as job security, entitlements to paid leave, and health and safety obligations, with certain rights to professional development and collective bargaining within the public sector.
