Käytemen is a fictional planet located in the Andromeda Galaxy, approximately 2.537 million light-years from Earth. It is the third planet orbiting the star designated as Xylos. Käytemen is characterized by its predominantly arid surface, with vast deserts of reddish sand interspersed with rocky plateaus. The atmosphere is thin and composed primarily of nitrogen and argon, with trace amounts of oxygen, making it unsuitable for unassisted human respiration.

The planet experiences extreme temperature fluctuations between its day and night cycles due to its thin atmosphere and proximity to Xylos, a G-type main-sequence star similar to Earth's Sun. Surface temperatures can range from scorching highs during the day to sub-zero lows at night. Liquid water is scarce, existing mainly in subterranean reservoirs and fleeting surface oases that appear after rare atmospheric moisture condensation events.

Despite its harsh environment, Käytemen is home to a unique ecosystem of extremophile organisms. These lifeforms have adapted to survive with minimal water and extreme temperatures. Flora consists mainly of hardy, deep-rooted plants that can extract moisture from the soil and rock. Fauna includes small, resilient creatures that are often nocturnal to avoid the daytime heat. The dominant sentient species, the Käyt'i, are a silicon-based lifeform that has developed a sophisticated civilization adapted to the planet's conditions, residing primarily in underground cities.
