Käsisekoittimia, known in English as hand blenders or immersion blenders, are kitchen appliances designed for blending ingredients directly in the container they are in. They typically consist of a long, slender shaft with a blade at the bottom, attached to a motor unit at the top. The user holds the motor unit and immerses the blade end into the food to be blended.

These devices are particularly useful for tasks such as pureeing soups and sauces directly in their pots, emulsifying dressings, or making smoothies and baby food. Their compact size and ease of use make them a convenient alternative to larger, stationary blenders for smaller quantities or when a more immediate blending action is desired. The operation of a hand blender is straightforward. The user presses a button on the motor unit to activate the blades. The speed of the blades can often be adjusted, allowing for control over the blending process. Cleaning is typically simple, as the blending shaft can often be detached and washed separately, or rinsed under running water. Safety features, such as blade guards, are incorporated to prevent accidental contact with the sharp blades. Hand blenders are powered by electricity, either through a cord or, in some cordless models, a rechargeable battery.
