Kvartsilasia, also known as fused quartz or fused silica, is a non-crystalline amorphous form of silicon dioxide (SiO2). It is characterized by its high purity and exceptional thermal and optical properties. Unlike glass made from a mixture of silica sand and other additives, kvartsilasia is typically produced by melting very pure quartz sand or by synthesizing it directly from silicon and oxygen.

The unique molecular structure of kvartsilasia, with its randomly oriented silica tetrahedra, contributes to its remarkable properties. It exhibits a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, meaning it can withstand extreme temperature changes without fracturing.
