Kuvaustekijät refers to the factors that influence the outcome of a photographic exposure. These elements collectively determine how much light reaches the camera's sensor or film, and thus the resulting brightness and detail of the image. Understanding and controlling kuvaustekijät is fundamental to achieving well-exposed photographs.

The primary kuvaustekijät are aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Aperture, controlled by the lens diaphragm, determines the size of the opening through which light passes. A wider aperture (lower f-number) allows more light in, resulting in a brighter image and a shallow depth of field. Shutter speed controls the duration for which the sensor or film is exposed to light. A faster shutter speed allows less light but freezes motion, while a slower shutter speed allows more light but can result in motion blur. ISO refers to the camera sensor's sensitivity to light. These three elements are interconnected in what is known as the "exposure triangle." Adjusting one factor requires compensating with one or both of the others to maintain the desired exposure level. For example, if you decrease the aperture to increase depth of field, you will need to increase either the shutter speed or the ISO to compensate for the reduced light.
