kulturnog

Kulturnog is a declined form of the adjective kulturni, used in several South Slavic languages (notably Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian and Montenegrin) to mean "cultural" or "of culture". It is not a base lemma but a grammatical variant, typically appearing as the genitive singular for masculine and neuter nouns and as the accusative singular form for animate masculine nouns in standard Serbo-Croatian declension. An approximate pronunciation in English orthography is "kool-TOOR-nog".

In usage, kulturnog commonly appears in phrases that express possession, relation or description, for example: muzeja kulturnog nasleđa ("museum of cultural heritage") or programa kulturnog razvoja ("program of cultural development"). It also features in proper names and institutional titles where grammatical agreement requires the genitive case, such as names of departments, foundations, festivals and publications.

Etymologically the form derives from the noun kultura ("culture"), itself an international borrowing ultimately traceable to Latin cultura. Cognate declined forms exist in other Slavic languages (for example Russian kulturnogo) with similar functions. Understanding kulturnog therefore involves recognizing Slavic case morphology and adjective agreement rather than treating it as an independent lexical item.
