kroon

Kroon is a term with several uses. In Estonian, kroon means crown and is the name of the country’s former currency. The Estonian kroon (ISO code EEK) circulated from 1992 until 2011, introduced after Estonia regained independence and replacing the Estonian ruble at decimal subdivisions of 1 kroon = 100 senti. It was issued by Eesti Pank and remained in use until Estonia adopted the euro on 1 January 2011, at a fixed conversion rate of 1 euro = 15.6466 krooni.
