koentsyymiä
Koentsyymiä is the Finnish word for coenzyme. Coenzymes are organic non-protein compounds that bind with enzymes to help them catalyze reactions. They are essential for a vast array of metabolic processes within living organisms. Unlike enzymes, coenzymes are not consumed during the reaction they catalyze. Instead, they often act as temporary carriers of chemical groups, atoms, or electrons.
Many coenzymes are derived from vitamins. For example, thiamine (vitamin B1) is a precursor to thiamine pyrophosphate
Other coenzymes, like ubiquinone (coenzyme Q10), are not directly derived from vitamins but play critical roles
