klostergång
Klostergång, or cloister walk, is a covered gallery that surrounds the cloister courtyard of a monastery or convent. It forms part of the monastic complex and typically connects the church, refectory, dormitory and chapter house. The walkway provides a sheltered, contemplative space for monks and nuns and allows movement between buildings without leaving the precinct.
Architecturally, the klostergång is usually an arcade or corridor with a roof and a sequence of arches
Functionally it served daily monastic life: processions, study, reading, and exercise; a way to move between
Many klostergångs survive as architectural and cultural heritage in Europe. They range from simple, utilitarian passages
