Klagenfurt, also known as Clagenfurt, is a city located in the southeastern part of the state of Carinthia, Austria. It is situated at the center of a valley in the Alps foothills along the Drava River, and is Carinthia's second-largest city. As of 2020, the city had a population of over 106,000 people, and the metropolitan area had a population of over 279,000 people.

Klagenfurt is known for its Baroque and Rococo architecture, especially in the old town, and its unique coral-encrusted statue of Neptune, dating back to the 18th century. This ornate fountain is a famous landmark in Klagenfurt and features several other mythological figures. The coral-studded Neptune statue is not the only unusual item in Klagenfurt; the town is also famous for its original Art Nouveau Museum in Austria.

The University of Klagenfurt is a key research university and has played a key role in regional educational, economic, and cultural development. The casual countryside near the city and the glimpses of mountains that can be seen from the center are particularly inviting, with Wörthersee lake only about 15 kilometers away.

The city celebrated its 850th founding anniversary in 1986, and in 2002, it held the cultural capital of Europe title. Tourism in Klagenfurt mainly revolves around the old town, the coastline of Lake Wörther, the imposing Lueg and Liebenberg mountains which dominate the landscape, the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Benedictine Abbey of Millstatt.
