Kilégzésiáramszkítés is a Hungarian term that translates to "forced expiratory volume in one second" or FEV1. It is a common pulmonary function test used to measure the amount of air a person can forcefully exhale in the first second of a full exhalation. This measurement is a key indicator of lung function and is widely used in the diagnosis and monitoring of respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and cystic fibrosis.

The FEV1 test is performed using a spirometer, a device that measures lung volume and flow. During the test, the individual takes a deep breath and then exhales as forcefully and quickly as possible into a mouthpiece connected to the spirometer. The spirometer records the volume of air exhaled over time, and the FEV1 is the volume of air exhaled in the first second of this forced exhalation.

A lower-than-normal FEV1 value can indicate airway obstruction or other lung conditions that restrict airflow. The FEV1 is often expressed as a percentage of the predicted FEV1 for a person of similar age, height, sex, and race.
