Katusesindlid is a fictional plant species created for illustrative purposes in a hypothetical encyclopedia of world-building. In the imagined ecosystem, it is a perennial herb assigned to the family Katuaceae and is endemic to the cloud forests of the Seira Islands. The plant grows to about 60–70 cm tall, with slender, waxy leaves arranged alternately and umbels of pale lilac flowers that bloom in midsummer. The fruit is a small dry capsule containing several seeds.

The name katusesindlid is formed from elements of the local island dialects, combining terms that roughly translate to 'sun-daughter' and 'lid' in reference to the seed capsule's protective covering. First described in the fictional field guide by botanists Leena Varo and Niko Chen in 1992, it has since become a common example in world-building literature for endemic flora.

Habitat and ecology: katusesindlid favors shaded understories with high humidity and rich, acidic soils. It is pollinated primarily by hypothetical hummingbirds in the stories’ setting, and its seeds are dispersed by wind from the upper canopy. Distribution is highly restricted, with most populations confined to two protected valleys on the main island.
