kationevahetusmaterjalid
Kationevahetus, often translated as cation exchange, is a fundamental chemical process where ions of the same charge are reversibly exchanged between a solid phase and a liquid phase. In this process, cations (positively charged ions) in a solution are attracted to and bind with negatively charged sites on a solid material, typically an ion-exchange resin. Simultaneously, cations that were initially held by the solid material are released into the solution. This exchange is governed by principles of electrochemistry and equilibrium.
The capacity of a material to undergo cation exchange is known as its cation exchange capacity (CEC).
