Kasetissa is a temple complex located in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. It is a significant archaeological site and a major pilgrimage destination in the country. The temple complex is dedicated to the worship of Lord Buddha and is believed to be one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka.

Kasetissa is an abbreviation of the name of the guardian deity of the temple, Kasee Seya, which translates to "Kasetissa" in Sinhalese. The temple complex dates back to the 10th century AD and was constructed during the Polonnaruwa period. Its current structure, however, is a result of extensive restoration work carried out in the 12th century AD.

Kasetissa was a major center of Buddhist learning and culture in medieval Sri Lanka. It was a hub for Buddhist monks and scholars who came to the temple to study and practice their faith. The temple complex is home to several ancient stupas, thuparamas, an ornate gateway known as the " Hatadage", several ancient palm leaf manuscripts, and other historical artifacts.

Several of the most important Buddhist texts, including the Buddha's teachings and the history of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, are believed to have been inscribed on palm leaves in this very temple. The Inscriptipns on these palm leaves are in the ancient Tamil and Pali languages and provide evidence of the significance of Kasetissa in Buddhist history.

Kasetissa remains a popular tourist destination today, with many visitors drawn to its rich history and cultural significance.
