Kütusepelleti is the Estonian term for fuel pellet. Fuel pellets are a type of biofuel made from compressed organic matter, typically sawdust, wood chips, agricultural waste, or other biomass. They are manufactured by grinding the raw material into small particles and then compressing it under high pressure and temperature. This process extrudes the material into small, cylindrical shapes with a consistent diameter, usually around 6-8 millimeters.

The primary benefit of fuel pellets is their high energy density and uniform size, which makes them easy to store, transport, and handle. They are a renewable energy source, as the biomass used is harvested sustainably. Burning fuel pellets produces significantly less carbon dioxide compared to fossil fuels, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint. They are commonly used for heating in residential, commercial, and industrial applications, often burned in specialized pellet stoves or boilers. The production process removes moisture from the biomass, resulting in a fuel with a low ash content and a high calorific value.
