közelükbl

Közelükbl is a hypothetical word often used in linguistic discussions to illustrate how Hungarian morphemes can be stacked in a single form. It is not an attested word in standard Hungarian dictionaries or everyday usage, and it does not appear in routine spoken or written language.

The construction appears to combine közel (near) with the possessive suffix -ük (their) and the directional/ablative suffix -ből (from). In standard orthography the closely related form would be közelükből, which literally means “from their proximity.” The unusual spelling közelükbl serves as a teaching example of how affixes could theoretically attach to a base and then be altered by orthographic conventions at the junction of morphemes.

Meaning in this hypothetical sense would be “from their proximity” or “from near them.” As a non-attested form, it is mainly relevant in demonstrations of morphology, syllable structure, and the effects of vowel harmony and suffix chaining in Hungarian rather than as a usable lexeme.
