járható

Járható is a Hungarian adjective used to describe something that can be traversed on foot or by vehicle. It denotes that a surface or route is in a state suitable for travel, allowing safe or feasible movement, as opposed to being impassable or dangerous.

The term derives from the verb jár, meaning to go or walk, and is commonly found in compounds such as járható út (a passable road), járható földút (a passable dirt road), and járható terület (passable area). It is widely used in civil engineering, transport planning, and weather or disaster reporting to indicate current travel conditions.

In practice, a road, path, or terrain described as járható is open for travel, though it may not be in perfect condition. Opposite terms include járhatatlan or járhatatlan állapot, used for surfaces that are blocked or dangerous due to factors such as snow, ice, floods, or structural damage.

Examples include reporting that a mountain pass is járható after snow removal, or that a rural track is only intermittently járható following heavy rainfall. In everyday language, the word is used to convey that a route can be taken, even if it requires caution or slower travel.
