Izommozgásban, a Hungarian term, translates to "in muscle movement" or "during muscle action." It refers to the physiological processes that occur when muscles contract and relax to produce movement. This encompasses a complex interplay of electrical and chemical signals that trigger the interaction of actin and myosin filaments within muscle fibers. The energy required for this process is primarily supplied by adenosine triphosphate (ATP).

The sequence of events in izommozgásban typically begins with a nerve impulse from the central nervous system reaching the neuromuscular junction. This impulse triggers the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that binds to receptors on the muscle fiber membrane, initiating an electrical signal called an action potential. This action potential propagates along the muscle fiber and into the sarcoplasmic reticulum, causing the release of calcium ions. The increased concentration of calcium ions in the sarcoplasm allows for the binding of troponin to tropomyosin, shifting the latter to expose the active sites on actin filaments. Myosin heads can then bind to these sites, forming cross-bridges. The subsequent sliding of actin filaments over myosin filaments, powered by ATP hydrolysis, results in muscle shortening and thus, movement. Relaxation occurs when the nerve impulse ceases, calcium ions are pumped back into the sarcoplasmic reticulum, and the cross-bridges detach.
