irreduktiivne

Irreduktiivne is a mathematical term describing irreducibility: the property of not being reducible to simpler, nontrivial components. In practice, objects labeled irreduktiivne cannot be decomposed into a product, sum, or union of smaller, nontrivial parts within their respective frameworks.

In algebra, an irreducible element of a ring is a nonunit that cannot be written as a product of two nonunits. An irreducible polynomial over a field cannot be factored into polynomials of lower degree with coefficients in that field. These notions provide fundamental building blocks for factorization theories.

In representation theory, an irreducible (irreduktiivne) representation has no proper, nonzero invariant subspaces, meaning it cannot be decomposed into simpler representations.
