Infiltrometri are devices used to measure the rate at which water infiltrates into a soil. This process, known as infiltration, is crucial for understanding how water moves through the environment, influencing groundwater recharge, agricultural practices, and the management of water resources.

There are several common types of infiltrometri. The simplest is the ring infiltrometer, which consists of a metal cylinder driven into the ground. Another common type is the disk infiltrometer. This device applies a constant negative pressure (suction) to the soil surface, simulating the capillary forces that draw water into dry soil. It is particularly useful for measuring infiltration rates at different soil depths and under various moisture conditions.

The data obtained from infiltrometri measurements are used in various fields. Hydrologists use it to model water runoff, predict soil erosion, and assess the potential for groundwater contamination.
