Inductiolämmittimet, known in English as induction heaters, are devices that utilize electromagnetic induction to heat conductive materials. This process involves generating a high-frequency alternating current within a coil. When a conductive workpiece is placed within this coil, the alternating current induces eddy currents within the workpiece itself. The resistance of the workpiece to these eddy currents causes it to heat up rapidly and efficiently.

The frequency of the alternating current and the coil design are crucial parameters that determine the depth of penetration of the induced currents and the heating pattern. Lower frequencies penetrate deeper, while higher frequencies tend to heat the surface more. This allows for precise control over the heating process, making induction heating suitable for a wide range of applications.

Induction heating is widely used in industrial settings for processes such as heat treatment (hardening, annealing, tempering), brazing, soldering, melting, forging, and surface coating. Its advantages include rapid heating, uniform heating, energy efficiency, precise control, and a clean process with no direct flame or contact.
