incideixo

Incideixo is a form in Catalan grammar. It is the first-person singular present indicative form of the verb incidir. The verb incidir has several senses, including to occur, to fall upon (as an event), to affect, or to be pertinent to a subject. The term incideixo thus expresses that the speaker is causing or experiencing an impact, or that a matter concerns the speaker.

Etymology and usage: incidir derives from Latin incidere, and in Catalan it covers both the sense of an event happening and of something affecting or relating to a topic. In practice, incideixo is used when the subject is “I” and the action relates to influencing or concerning a matter, often with a prepositional phrase such as en to indicate the topic affected.

Grammatical notes: as a present-tense form, incideixo conjugates with other -ir verbs in the first person singular. In standard prose, this form is common in written Catalan and in formal registers; in everyday speech, speakers may opt for alternative constructions to convey impact or relevance depending on context.
