inaktywne

Inaktywne is a Polish adjective meaning not active. It describes something that is currently not performing its usual function, whether due to suppression, alteration, or a dormant state. The opposite form is aktywne. The term appears across scientific and technical language to denote inactivity in various fields.

In biology and medicine, inactivation refers to loss of activity in enzymes, receptors, cells, or pathogens. Examples include inactivated vaccines (szczepionki inaktywne) produced by chemical or heat treatment that render the pathogen unable to replicate while preserving immunogenicity. In genetics, mutacje inaktywujące are loss-of-function mutations that reduce or abolish a gene’s activity.
