Impedanciaanalízis, often translated as impedance analysis or electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), is a powerful non-destructive technique used to study the electrochemical properties of materials and interfaces. It involves applying a small amplitude sinusoidal voltage or current to an electrochemical system and measuring the resulting current or voltage response over a range of frequencies. The ratio of the voltage to the current at each frequency gives the impedance, which is a complex quantity representing both the resistance and reactance of the system.

By analyzing how impedance changes with frequency, researchers can gain insights into various electrochemical processes occurring within the system. These processes can include charge transfer reactions, diffusion of ions, adsorption/desorption of species, and the properties of dielectric layers.
