Immuunisolutyypit, also known as immune cell types, refer to the diverse population of cells that collectively orchestrate the immune system's response to pathogens and abnormal cells. These cells originate from hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow and differentiate into various lineages, each with specialized functions.

The main categories of immune cells include lymphocytes, phagocytes, and granulocytes. Lymphocytes are central to adaptive immunity and include T cells, B cells, and natural killer (NK) cells. T cells are further divided into helper T cells, cytotoxic T cells, and regulatory T cells, each playing distinct roles in cell-mediated immunity and immune regulation. B cells are responsible for humoral immunity, producing antibodies that neutralize pathogens. NK cells are part of the innate immune system and target virus-infected cells and tumor cells.

Phagocytes, such as macrophages and dendritic cells, are crucial for innate immunity. They engulf and digest cellular debris, foreign substances, microbes, and cancer cells through a process called phagocytosis. Dendritic cells also play a vital role in initiating adaptive immune responses by presenting antigens to T cells.

Granulocytes, including neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils, are characterized by the presence of granules in their cytoplasm. Neutrophils are the most abundant type and are primary responders to bacterial infections. Eosinophils are involved in defense against parasites and allergic reactions. Basophils release histamine and other mediators involved in inflammation and allergic responses. Understanding the characteristics and functions of these various immune cell types is fundamental to comprehending immune system operation and developing therapeutic strategies for immune-related diseases.
