hyöntä
Hyöntä is a Finnish word that translates to "insect" in English. It encompasses a vast and diverse class of arthropods characterized by a three-part body (head, thorax, and abdomen), six legs attached to the thorax, and typically one or two pairs of wings, though some species are wingless. Insects are found in virtually every terrestrial and freshwater habitat on Earth, playing crucial roles in ecosystems as pollinators, decomposers, prey, and predators. Their life cycles often involve metamorphosis, a process of transformation from immature to adult form, which can be complete (egg, larva, pupa, adult) or incomplete (egg, nymph, adult). The study of insects is known as entomology.
