Httpsesimerkki (literally “HTTPS example”) is a Finnish term used in technical writing to refer to a representative example of HTTPS usage. It is a compound of https and esimerkki (example). The term is not an official protocol designation, but it appears in tutorials, manuals, and textbooks to illustrate secure web communication.

An httpsesimerkki typically shows how a client establishes a secure connection to a server, including the use of TLS certificates, certificate validation, and the basic elements of an HTTPS URL (scheme https, host, path). Common components demonstrated include a sample domain such as https://example.com, certificate issuance by a trusted CA, the TLS handshake, session keys, and the browser's padlock indicator.

Educational purposes also cover security best practices: enabling HTTPS by default, redirecting HTTP to HTTPS, configuring TLS settings for strong security, using HSTS, and renewing certificates before expiration. Variants may demonstrate Let’s Encrypt automation or certificate pinning in app contexts.
