hatta

Hatta is a town in the Emirate of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It lies in the Hajar Mountains near the border with Oman, connected to Dubai by road and located to the southeast of the city.

Historically an agricultural oasis supported by date palms and springs, Hatta developed as a fortified settlement guarding the mountain pass. The Hatta Fort and Hatta Heritage Village preserve traditional architecture and rural life.

Today Hatta is a focal point for tourism and outdoor recreation within Dubai. It draws visitors to the Heritage Village, to hikes in the surrounding mountains and wadis, and to the Hatta Dam. The town is small, with a population in the low thousands, and has been expanding its lodging and camping facilities to accommodate visitors.

Administratively, Hatta is part of the Dubai Emirate and serves as a link to cross-border routes toward Oman.

Climate is hot and dry most of the year, with cooler evenings in winter due to the elevation.
