Hakkuriteholähteistä, often translated as switched-mode power supplies (SMPS), are electronic power supplies that incorporate a switching regulator to convert electrical power efficiently. They are ubiquitous in modern electronics, powering everything from personal computers and smartphones to televisions and industrial equipment.

The primary advantage of hakkuriteholähteistä over traditional linear power supplies is their significantly higher efficiency. Linear supplies dissipate excess voltage as heat, which can be a considerable waste of energy.
