guruhdagi

Guruhdagi is an Uzbek adjective formed from guruh, meaning "group," plus the suffix -dagi. The suffix -dagi marks location or membership, so guruhdagi roughly translates to "in the group," "of the group," or "group-related." As a modifier, it precedes the noun it describes to indicate that the noun refers to elements that belong to or are located within that group.

The form is widely used in both everyday and written Uzbek to describe people, items, or situations associated with a particular group. Examples include guruhdagi a'zolar (members of the group), guruhdagi o'quvchilar (students in the group), and guruhdagi vazifa (a task within the group). In standard usage, adjectives of this type come before the noun: guruhdagi o'quvchilar, not o'quvchilar guruhdagi. There is also a related adverbial form guruhda meaning "in the group," which is used without modifying a noun.

In discourse, the corresponding substantive form can be created by adding -lar to yield guruhdagilar, meaning "those in the group" or "the members of the group." This pattern — guruhdagi + -lar — is common with other nouns as well (kitobdagi, maktabdagi, sinfdagi). Guruhdagi thus serves as a productive and neutral part of Uzbek grammar, used to specify membership or location relative to a group. It translates most directly as "in the group" but often carries a sense closer to "group members" depending on context.
