Grafitpulver, or graphite powder, is a fine, black to gray carbon material composed of tiny graphite particles. It can be derived from natural graphite by milling or produced synthetically from carbon precursors at high temperature. Particle sizes typically range from a few micrometres to sub-micrometre scales, and it exists in natural flake, amorphous, and synthetic forms.

The defining property of graphite powder is its layered crystal structure, which gives excellent lubricity and electrical conductivity. It is thermally stable in inert environments and chemically relatively inert, though it oxidizes at elevated temperatures in air. Hydrophobic and oil-absorbent, it disperses in many media and can be surface-treated to modify compatibility with binders and plastics.

Common uses include dry lubrication for high-temperature bearings and gears, conductive fillers for polymers and coatings, pigment in paints, and additives in lubricants and greases. It also serves as an electrode material in some lithium‑ion battery formulations and as a mold-release or friction material in foundry and brake applications.

Handling considerations include avoiding inhalation of respirable dust, which can pose health risks, and using appropriate dust-control measures. Grafitpulver should be stored in closed, dry containers away from oxidizers. Production and use should comply with relevant safety, environmental, and occupational health standards.
